HOW CAN YOU HELP MAKE A CONTRIBUTION?
Cheddington Pre School is a registered charity. Raising funds for Pre School is vitally important to ensure we can continue to maintain the best standards that enable your child to learn and develop within a secure and stimulating environment. Pre School's running costs are covered by fees and government grants. Any equipment and resources we need such as toys, books and computers are paid for by fundraising.
Indeed most parents/carers agree that spending time in pre-school is both a rewarding and illuminating experience. Not only does it give you the opportunity to see what your child enjoys doing at pre-school but also to observe the learning objectives and intentions behind the activities we offer. You will also have the chance to speak to your child's keyworker and ensure your child is settling in well.
A Parent Help Rota is displayed on the Parent’s Notice Board for you to sign up if you can help.
• Payroll giving
• Gift Aid
Payroll Giving
Many employers operate a payroll giving scheme. As an employee you can join the scheme by asking your employer for an application form, which you complete and return to your employer. The form will authorise your employer to deduct an amount from your pay each month before PAYE income tax is applied. This gives you income tax relief at your highest rate of tax on the amount of the contribution each month. The gift however does not reduce your earnings for National Insurance Contributions.
If you wish to help pre-school in this way, and you are aware that your employer operates a payroll giving scheme, please contact one of the committee members.
Gift Aid
Alternatively, you could make a contribution directly to the fund under the Gift Aid scheme. The pre-school can then claim basic rate tax on any donations made; for example, a Gift Aid donation of £10, is worth £12.50 to Pre-School. For donations between 6 April 2008 and 5 April 2011 the charity or CASC will also get a separate government supplement of three pence on every pound you give.
An additional benefit to you, if you are lucky enough to be a higher rate taxpayer, is that you can claim the remaining tax back personally.
Donations under the Gift Aid scheme can be made in any of the following forms:
• Cash
• Cheque
• Direct Debit
• Credit or Debit Card
• Postal Order
• Standing Order/telegraphic transfer
As a donor you must pay UK income tax or capital gains tax during the year, and you will need to sign a simple declaration to this effect in order for the pre-school to claim the basic rate tax

Match funding on fund raising
Many companies offer “matched funding” schemes to support their employees’ fundraising activities. Matched funding could be invaluable in helping you to raise even more money, so it is well worth finding out if your employer runs such a scheme. Ask your Personnel or Human Resources department for any information they may have.
Different employers will offer different matched funding schemes. Some will match your fundraising 100% - a pound for every pound you raise. Others will set a cap on how far they are willing to match, but any money raised beyond that cap will not be matched.
Some employers match the amount of your fundraising that can be Gift Aid-ed as well. Check if this is the case, since it can make a still greater difference to the funds you manage to raise.
