What happens during a typical day at Pre-School?

Each session a wide variety of activities, both indoors and out are planned to teach children particular skills, language and knowledge. The emphasis is on free play with children making their own choices about which activities interest and attract them. Additionally at least twice weekly we offer a full scale PE and Music & Movement element to our sessions, having access to the Main School hall and PE equipment at Cheddington Combined School. Each session also incorporates a Show & Tell period or Circle time when the children will come together in groups to discuss a particular topic and talk about their interest items. This encourages valuable speaking and listening skills as well as improving concentration and self-confidence. We usually conclude each session with a story and/or singing or playing musical instruments.

08.50 - 11.50 Morning session
11.55 - 12.55 Lunchbox Club
13:00 - 15:00 Afternoon session

Lunch Box Club

We operate a Lunchbox Club during the hour between our morning and afternoon sessions. This is open to children aged 3 or over, and is a useful preparation for children moving onto school, as it gives the children the opportunity to eat a meal in a social group situation, learning how to unwrap and open items, and develop good healthy eating habits. Staff eat alongside the children to model good behaviour when at the table.

Drawers

All the children have their own named drawer to put their work in. Additionally this will be our main route for any letters, items, information etc. that we need to distribute to parents so please do ensure that this is emptied at the end of each session.
