Starting at School
We work closely with the Reception Class teacher particularly during the summer term prior to children moving up to school. All children have the opportunity of visiting Reception and meeting their new teacher each week during the summer term in small groups of about 8, spending approx. ½ hour in Reception each week. Similarly the Reception Class teacher makes regular visits to pre-school to get to know the children in the pre-school environment before they move on to school.
Regular contact such as this together with familiarization with the school buildings and grounds through activities such as PE, sports Day, Assemblies, joint activities with school etc ensure that when the timer comes to make the move up to 'big school' the transition goes smoothly.
